not to be sappy but

this trip gave us every feeling we could and couldn't of expected, even the sad and tough ones.
we've laughed, cried, been up, down, high and low.
sometimes inspired, sometimes un.
we loved every minute of it but also had some times where all we wanted was a couch, a gallon of green chile stew and some seinfeld.
overall though we've been so lucky to see all the friends and family, sights and states, roads, cars and trucks, homeade food, arcade games, rain, shine, wind, oceans, lakes, rivers, rapids, harry potter books on tape, babies, toddlers, dogs, truck stops, unleaded gas, bad coffee, good coffee, bad pizza, good pizza, bad hotels, goo-nope-just bad hotels, breweries, thrift stores, hipster parties, non-green chile burritos, wind turbines, redwoods, pride parades, L trains, buses, and cheese.

thanks to everyone who helped us along the way and thanks to vulva our volvo for not breaking down.

love,
seth and jess

Driving from IA to NM

no offense, but there are some crazy conservatives out in southdakotaoklahomatexas...

i dont know why but there is this big ass lower case t out near amarillo.

7000 miles later and we made it back.

and we ended this trip exactly how we started it. burritos and green chile stew at the frontier.

New Mexico jules... ...oh wait... ...JULES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Iowa 2

After spending the day making macgyver, its time for some more bags.

naomi's bags are homeade and fuckin rad. painted by naomi, cassiday, and jessica.
with bags, custom made by jess herself.
they contain not only one, or two but three themes within.

Slytherin, Iowa, and corn.

Gryffindor, New Mexico, and beans.

toss that shit!

good times

miriam and naomi love chile, as anybody who once lived in new mexico BETTER. and we just happened to have brought one jar of green chile and one jar of red chile with us all the way to iowa for such an occasion.

Iowa jules

Iowa is gonna be our last stop and after spending the weekend there we are heading out for our long drive back to ABQ.

New season of Macgyver

so we heard they're coming out with a new season of MacGyver, here is the new intro video:

update: here is a link to the Gag Reel for the MacGyver video :)

Iowa 1

after chicago we left to iowa for the weekend. it was a pretty short drive at around 4-5 hours.

we drove past Aurora, WAYNES WORLD!

we forgot to buy snacks so the captain's gotta take one for the team.

jess sitting in the shades.

All the cool kid in Iowa City hang out by the merry-go-rounds.

we went to beef days in solon, iowa. but shortly after left and went to THE LAKE!

we both got sunburns on our backs in chicago. naomi let us borrow some crazy-green sunburn jelly.

LOOK WHAT WE MADE IN THE SAND AT THE LAKE!!

arrrgggghhhh!!

a bunch of people and kids on the beach commented how much they loved our sculpture.
it was kind of....the coolest thing THERE!

beautiful driving here in iowa

Chicago

we interrupt this blog for an important message from sethandjessandvolvo:

so last weekend we decided to cut our trip a little short. we have been on the road for over a month but yeah, us, money, and volvo are getting tired. i mean its only gonna be like a week or so shorter than planned, but its pretty expensive to drive across the country, see peeps and feed our hungry bellies. we'd love to see all our friends and family on the east coast but it will have to be another time. we also decided to go to chicago first and then iowa on the way back home instead of the other way around if we were heading east.

now back to the blog...

The windy city temporarily changed its name while we were there to, the hot and humid city.
No breeze anywhere.

The "L" train.

Lake Michigan was so cold, and so refreshing.

The lake is 118 miles wide and 307 miles long. It looks like the ocean.

We made sand sculptures on the beach!

Chicago style pizza, with the sauce on TOP?! Now we've seen everything....yum

Chicago style parking?!

We made Beth and Jake a summer dinner of salad, bread, and brie. It was too hot to cook, but just as satisfying.

Beth and Jake were so fun and great. We had such a good time and were so comfortable in they're awesome home.

wiconsin

jess and i got into wisconsin pretty late in the day. so we just hung out and talked for a bit over some delicious homeade hummus.

in the morning we went to the local farmers market. it was fun but suuper hot and parking was crazy intense. funny, but it seems that wisconsin was the hottest place so far.

hanging out with norah

this kid is awesome!

seth doesn't look nearly as nerdy when HE wears those glasses.

the weekend we spent in wisconsin was spent hanging with little kids and babies, making real good food, going to the park and having some good ol' relax time.

thanks so much mike, alison, jack and norah. we love you guys!

onward to chi-ca-go.

driving from montana to wisconsin

well, driving from upper montana to wisconsin takes a long time. we drove 24 hours within 36 hours but luckily most of it was taken up by jess and i listening to harry potter books on tape.

montana

we left idaho to go meet up with miriam and naomi in montana! we're gonna see them again when we get to iowa but they happened to be up in montana the same time we were driving through so we might as well HANG OUT!!

leaving idaho there was a plane crashed in the middle of the highway!

camping on seeley lake!

we built an awesome tarp-umbrellaish structure

sethandjessandpicardandnaomiandmiriamandvolvo

we drove up north in montana the next day to stay in a cabin with miriam's fam. montana is a pretty beautiful area. contrary to what you may be thinking, we took this photo, its not from a calendar or a coors light commercial.

we thought we'd be camping around the cabin while miriam's fam slept in it. but the cabin ended up being amazing and huge and having sooo much cool stuff. so jess and i ended up sleeping up in the kids loft.(see blog banner at the top of page for reference)

miriams brother josh came up as well. this dude is seriously awesome and hilarious. a super cool dude.

the cabin is right on a glacier-water-lake which is crazy because all the water is super clear. we all really wanted to swim so we decided to all jump in. it was freezing, but super refreshing and fun nonetheless.

while we were there we would take the canoe's and kayaks on the lake alot.

the second day we were there miriam's brother josh brought some inflatable boats which we decided to take on a journey through one lake, a big hike to another lake, then across that lake to some little white water rapids. lets just say one boat popped, and naomi lost a flip flop. but it was extremely fun and intense going down the rapids!!

this place was beautiful and we were sad to leave. especially to drive 24 hours in two days to make it to wisconsin. but we're excited to see mike, alison, jack and norah.

see you in wisconsin!

seth and jess, coming to your state soon. maybe.
